Both Slanns are Loremaster of Life. And nobody cares about Skink Priest magic.

White Lizardmen Turn 1

Everything advances! There are 6 Stegadons on the board. Heads are going to butt. Might as well get the collisions over with.

The Terradons on my right wiped out my opponent's Chameleons with their rocks while flying towards the front lines.

On the left flank, my Chameleon Skinks and Terradons setup for a double flee, to delay the Cold One Cav from getting into a meaningful combat.

We get off Throne of Vines and drop Flesh to Stone on one of the Stegadons that risks being on the receiving end of a turn 1 charge.

Blue Lizardmen Turn 1

The blue Lizardmen opted to cautiously advance and didn't declare a single charge.

The blowpipe skinks on the left got up in the face of my jav skinks and would proceed to play a game of catch-the-poison-projectile.

The blue Saurus Warriors were toughened up with Flesh to Stone

Poison blowpipes are a pain! The skinks shot down one of my Terradons and nearly took out another one. They are begging for a stomping when I get a chance to charge them!

The Skink projectile party on the left side of the map started off with two of my skinks getting poisoned to death.

White Lizardmen Turn 2

Everything Advances: Charge Edition!

My Terradons charged the skinks that dared to shoot at them. The skinks foolishly took the charge.

The Skrox try for a long charge into the Stegadon.

Both my Ancient Stegadon and Saurus block charge into the Ancient Stegadon. It's better to give than receive when it comes to Stegadons and charges.

All of my charges were successful.

On the left side of the table, my Terradons line themselves up for a rear charge into the Slann's Saurus while the Chameleons continue to annoy the Cold Ones and the Ancient Stegadon pulls up next to the Skinks and his crew fires their giant blow pipes into the blue Saurus unit.

Stupid Skinks killed all my Terradons! In melee! That isn't supposed to happen!

My Skinks took some wounds from the Stegadon but the Kroxigor kept it from stomping all over the Skinks and also dealt two wounds back to the beast.

The Skinks won combat, demoralized the Stegadon, and chased it away towards the edge of the battle field.

The Saurus weren't as fortunate as the skinks in their battle with a Stegadon. They absorbed some losses, but held fast to fight the good fight.

Blue Lizardmen Turn 2

Now it's getting interesting.

The Slann charged his Saurus Warriors into my depleted Saurus unit.

The Cold One Cav bit the bullet and charged into the pestering Chameleon Skinks. They would mow them down then turn to face their next victims.

His Stegadon rallied and turned to face round two with the Kroxigor while his Terradon-Killing Skinks infiltrated my backfield.

His small block of Saurus Warriors turned in preparation to enter the scrum.

The Skink party continues. More Javelin equipped skinks die to double-shot blowpipes.

This is a "before" picture of the combat phase.

There will be blood. Cold, lizard blood.

The "after" picture.

My Saurus unit was brought down to size, but they took out the Stegadon before it could pound them into the ground. This brought my own stegadon out of the combat.

The state of the battle so far. All signs point to a blood bath in the middle of the table. These Lizards aren't messing around. There can be only one, may it be a Lizardman!

White Lizardmen Turn 3

My opponents big Saurus unit took a charge on both flanks from Ancient Stegadons. That will leave a mark.

The small Saurus block was also charged in the flank my my Engine of the Gods and his Cowardly Stegadon  was once again charged by my Skink/Kroxigor unit.

My Skinks had had enough of those darn poison blowpipes and charged!

It will be an eventful Melee Phase.

The Skinks (or rather the Kroxigor) cut the Stegadon to shreds then turned to get in on the action behind them.

The Skink Priest and his Stegadon dealt so much damage to the Saurus Warriors that not even their cold bloodedness could make them hold their line.

Lots of Saurus died. Mostly on the Blue Lizardmen side of the battle. But with a stubborn Slann leading them, they weren't going anywhere fast.

Blue Lizardmen Turn 3

His un-engaged Saurus rally and turn to face the rampaging Skink Priest riding Stegadon as well as block the Skrox from getting into the flank of their Slann's Saurus unit.

The Slann regrows a few of his Saurus, but they won't have long to enjoy their second chance at life.

More Saurus die. Nobody runs.

Also, notice the War of Skink Attrition that is still going on. Still, nobody cares.

White Lizardmen Turn 4

On the right side, the Priest/Stegadon and Skink/Kroxigor charged the un-engaged Saurus.

Also, my Terradons in the back charged the Slann/Saurus unit to help with the combat res.

Mazdamundi finally regrew some Saurus. The enemy Slann had been keeping his numbers up all game with regrowth, it was the only thing that had been keeping him in the battle.

When Saurus fight Saurus, lots of Saurus die. It was a good thing Mazdamundi got that Regrowth off, otherwise my Saurus block would have been about 3 strong as this point.

The Skrox and Stegadon routed the Saurus allowing the Stegadon to overrun into the flank of the remaining blue Saurus unit.

The Skrox unit reformed to face the Terradon-Killers.

It was only a matter of time before the Slann's Saurus unit was reduced to a middling fellowship of characters. The Slann sat atop his Throne of Vines wearing a Crown of Command, so he wouldn't be giving up any ground. But overall, it wasn't looking good for him.

White Lizardmen Turn 5

Mazdamundi grew bored watching the Skinks play with each other. He charged his stegadon into the fray and crushed the blow pipers.... all but one, which fled and was run down as Mazdamundi galloped to victory against his opposing Slann.

This is just silly now.

Only Mazdamundi has the power to wound the ethereal Slann but there won't be enough time to finish him. That won't matter, as the battle has long been won. The uprising has been crushed and this rebellious Slann will be taken back to Lustria to be rehabilitated.

Results: The Lizardmen won. (my lizardmen!)

Reflections:

It's tough to try to learn something from a win. I think the moral of the story is: Charge Stegadons before they charge you.

I like how effective the Skink/Kroxigor unit can be against high strength units that rely on their stomp.

I don't like how my Terradons matched up against 10 Skink Blowpipes. They lasted longer against a unit of Saurus than they did against 10 Skinks!
